Review: New York‑New York Resort — Vegas Energy, NYC Attitude

While Disney will always have my heart, my husband… well, not so much. His version of my Disney World obsession is a Las Vegas trip — and honestly, it’s become one of my favorite traditions as well. Over the years, we’ve made it a goal to experience as many different resorts on the Strip as possible. Our most recent adventure brought us to New York‑New York Resort & Casino, and we had an amazing stay.

You might be wondering why we hop around to different resorts if we love so many of them. The answer is simple: MyVEGAS, specifically POP! Slots. Thanks to those rewards, we’re able to enjoy MGM properties for little to no cost outside of the resort fee. So when we take our annual stay at Caesars Palace, we tack on an extra night and explore a new MGM resort. This year’s pick? New York‑New York.

🛏️ The Room: New Yorker Tower King

We stayed in a standard king room in the New Yorker Tower with a view of T‑Mobile Arena. The room wasn’t over‑the‑top luxurious, but it was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed.

Room highlights:

  • A comfy king bed

  • A standalone bar area

  • A wardrobe instead of a traditional closet (the open space between the door and mirror is actually great for storing coolers or extra luggage)

  • A safe, TV, and small table with chairs

Bathroom notes:

  • Basic setup with one sink

  • Standard tub/shower combo

  • Showerhead sits a bit low — I’m 5'8" and noticed it, so anyone over 6 feet may not love it

  • Good water pressure and hot water (always a win)

We don’t spend much time in the room during Vegas trips, and for what we needed, it worked perfectly. We’d absolutely stay here again.

🎰 The Casino: Smaller, Cozier, Easier to Navigate

One of the biggest surprises was how small the casino floor felt compared to other Strip resorts. Instead of the “endless maze” vibe you get at places like MGM Grand or Venetian, New York‑New York has a more intimate layout.

This can be a pro or a con depending on your style:

  • If you want to wander for hours and get lost in slot machines, this may not be your top pick.

  • If you’re traveling with friends or family and want a casino where you can actually find each other, this is a great option.

🍽️ Dining: So Many Great Options

New York‑New York shines when it comes to food. You could stay here for days and never run out of delicious options.

Sit‑down favorites include: (its been a few years since I've eaten at one of these restaurants!)

  • Nine Fine Irishmen

  • Gonzalez y Gonzalez

  • The Beerhaus

  • Gallagher’s Steakhouse

  • Il Fornaio

  • Broadway Burger

  • Chin Chin

Quick bites + casual options:

  • Shake Shack

  • 48th & Crepe

    Sausage and Egg Crepe
    Sausage and Egg Crepe
  • New York‑New York Food Court (the garlic knots here were unreal)

    Garlic Knots
    Garlic Knots

There’s truly something for every craving.

🍫 Hershey’s Chocolate World & The Chocolate Bar

If the food and casino aren’t enough to tempt you, New York‑New York also has Hershey’s Chocolate World — think M&M’s World or Coca‑Cola Store, but entirely Hershey‑themed.

You’ll find:

  • Exclusive merch

  • Unique candy flavors

  • A bakery counter with specialty treats

  • A newly opened milkshake bar

But my two absolute favorite spots?

1. The S’mores Bar

Yes, it exists. Yes, it’s magical. You pick your Hershey’s chocolate, and they make you a jumbo s’more for about $15. Worth every gooey bite.

2. The Chocolate Bar

This might be a new must‑do for me every trip. They offer standard cocktails, but the stars of the menu are their chocolate martinis. I tried:

  • Salted Caramel Chocolate Martini — tasted exactly like a Rolo

  • Peanut Butter Cup Martini — pure Reese’s vibes

They’re delicious, dangerously smooth, and very strong. Sip slowly.

🎲 Final Thoughts

New York‑New York is a fun, lively resort with great food, unique treats, and a cozy casino floor that’s easy to navigate. The rooms are simple but comfortable, and the overall vibe is upbeat without being overwhelming. If you’re looking for a resort that blends convenience, character, and a little bit of nostalgia, this one is absolutely worth a stay.
