✨ 6 Days to Go! ✨

It’s getting real, y’all — we’re almost there!

Today I want to talk about something that doesn’t always get enough attention when planning a Disney trip: downtime.

So often, people plan their vacations with the idea that from the minute they wake up to the minute they go to bed, they’ll be on the move. For some, that works perfectly. But for others, a go‑go‑go vacation doesn’t feel like much of a vacation at all.

How do we balance the expectation that a vacation should be relaxing with the reality that Disney has so much to do and see — more than we could ever fit into one trip? Here are six ways to slow down and recharge while still soaking in the magic.

---

1. Stay On‑Site 🏨

I know this can be a controversial topic, but staying on‑site keeps you inside the Disney bubble. You’re not wasting time in traffic, hunting for your car, or commuting back and forth. When your park day is done, your resort — and your bed — are just around the corner. That little bit of convenience can make a huge difference.

---

2. Enjoy the Amenities 🏊

Disney resorts aren’t just places to sleep — they’re themed experiences with pools, hot tubs, and activities designed for all ages. Many resorts have a main pool with slides and games, plus quieter pools for pure relaxation. Taking a break to enjoy these amenities can feel like a vacation within your vacation.

---

3. Plan Rest Days 📅

It sounds counterintuitive, but planning downtime makes your park time more enjoyable. I usually schedule at least one rest day in the middle of my trip, and I rarely plan park time on arrival or departure days. Yes, it adds an extra night or two, but it makes the rest of the trip so much smoother.

---

4. Find Hidden Relaxation Spots 🌳

Social media is full of tips for quiet corners around the parks. A few favorites:

- The gardens in the United Kingdom pavilion at EPCOT

- The grassy walkway near Casey’s Corner in Magic Kingdom

- A train ride loop around Magic Kingdom just to sit and reset

These little pauses keep the momentum going without burning you out.

---

5. Take Advantage of Table Service 🍴

If you don’t want to leave the park but need a break, table service meals are a great option. Whether it’s a character dining experience or a cozy sit‑down restaurant, slowing down for a meal can give you the energy to enjoy the rest of your day.

---

6. Know Your Transportation 🚎

Do a little research before your trip so you know your options. Sometimes waiting for a bus or monorail feels overwhelming, and it’s worth paying for a Lyft or Uber to get back to your resort faster. A quiet ride can be the reset you need, and it often drops you closer to your room.

---

Final Thoughts ✨

Downtime and Disney don’t always seem to go hand in hand, but it’s absolutely okay — and even necessary — to build in quiet moments. They’ll help you enjoy the magic without coming home completely exhausted.
