The chill is finally in the air… after an unusually warm fall (and a very soggy summer), Minnesota is finally catching up to the season. The crisp breeze, the rustling of the last maple leaves, and the early evening glow are giving Halloween the spooky, eerie ambiance it deserves. As I prep for trick-or-treaters and sip something pumpkin-spiced, I’m transported back to one of my favorite Disney Halloween memories: the 2021 Walt Disney World After Hours Boo Bash.

👻 A Bold Step into the Unknown
2021 was a year of cautious optimism. The world was slowly reopening, and our family decided it was time to venture out—into the unknown, if you will. (If only my husband had known this was just the beginning of many more Disney adventures to come!) Disney World was open, but not everything had returned to its full magical glory. Still, they couldn’t skip one of the most beloved holidays among Disney fans… so they introduced the After Hours Boo Bash!

🦹♂️ Villains, Sass, and Spooky Fun
The Halloween décor was in full swing, and villains were lurking throughout the park—though interactions were still socially distanced. No hugs, but plenty of sass! One of my favorite moments? My husband jokingly teased Gaston about his muscles. Gaston, without missing a beat, turned to him and said in the most haughty voice imaginable: “They were big enough for you to notice.” I’ve never seen my husband blush so fast. It was chef’s kiss perfection.

🎆 Why Boo Bash Was So Special
It wasn’t just the low crowds, the fireworks, or the parade that made this event magical. It was the feeling of celebration—of being together again. After so much isolation, Boo Bash was the first time we got to enjoy Halloween the way our family loves it: big, loud, and full of joy. And let’s not forget the perks: unlimited bottled sodas, popcorn, and ice cream. I’m fairly certain I left with a sugar-induced stomachache and zero regrets.
🎟️ Would I Recommend It?
Absolutely. While I’m thrilled that Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is back, I’ll always have a soft spot for the After Hours events. They’re intimate, indulgent, and packed with character moments you’ll never forget.
If you ever get the chance to attend a holiday or After Hours event at Disney—do it.
It’s worth every spooky step and dollar!
