☕ This Day in Disney History: Day 8

62 Days to Go!

One of my favorite rituals in the Disney parks? Entering the turnstiles, walking under the railroad, stepping onto Main Street… and making a beeline for the Main Street Bakery—aka Starbucks. There’s just something magical about sipping a familiar drink while soaking in the sights, sounds, and castle views.

But here’s a fun fact: Starbucks wasn’t always the go-to coffee spot in Disney parks! (Ok you knew that... buuut its still a fun fact ;-) )

🕰️ A Caffeinated Timeline

  • 1955 – Just months after Disneyland opened, Maxwell Coffee House debuted on December 1. It lasted nearly two years before closing on October 8, 1957.

  • 1958–1976 – Enter Hills Bros. Coffee Company, which took over and held the exclusive coffee rights for almost 20 years. They even created a cozy coffee garden for guests to relax and recharge.

  • 1976–2013 – After Hills Bros. exited, there was a bit of a coffee gap. But Disney’s Town Square Market Place stepped in to keep caffeine flowing for tired parents and energetic teens alike.

  • 2013–Today – Starbucks officially entered the Disney scene, and now you’ll find them in both Walt Disney World and Disneyland. And let’s not forget Joffrey’s, whose seasonal drinks are a delightful surprise!

Personal note: I’m a Starbucks girl through and through, but I’ll admit—Joffrey’s seasonal creations are hard to resist. There’s something so fun about discovering a new flavor while strolling through the parks.

Do you have a favorite Disney coffee spot? Or maybe you remember one of the originals? I’d love to hear which brew brings the most magic to your Disney mornings.

See you tomorrow for Day 9 in our countdown to Disney magic!
