🍎 This Day in Disney History: Day 7
63 Days to Go!
Disney doesn’t just create theme parks and beloved characters—it builds legacies.
On this day in 1990, Disney hosted the very first American Teacher Awards Show at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood, California. This heartfelt celebration of educators ran until the mid-2000s, honoring those who inspire, innovate, and shape future dreamers.
Just another example of Disney’s commitment to storytelling—this time, through real-life heroes.
🏝️ DVC Dreams Begin
In 1991, Disney officially launched sales for the Disney Vacation Club (DVC) at Walt Disney World.
If you’ve spent any time in the Disneyverse, you’ve probably heard of it—the point-based membership program that lets you book stays at Deluxe resorts across the globe, supposedly for a lesser cost?
According to D23, as of July 2017, there are 14 DVC resorts:
Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas (Ko Olina, Hawaii)
Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas—Jambo House & Kidani Village
Disney’s Beach Club Villas
Disney’s BoardWalk Villas
Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort
Disney’s Old Key West Resort
Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows
Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa
Disney’s Vero Beach Resort
The Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa
The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
Boulder Ridge Villas & Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
✨ Personal note: I’ve always been intrigued by DVC… but haven’t taken the plunge yet. Part of me wonders if I’d ever be able to walk away once I joined! LOL. It’s definitely a bucket list goal to stay at every DVC resort someday. Have you tried DVC? Is it worth it?
Is Disney's Vacation Club worth it?
