🎃 73 Days to Go!

Day 7 of our eerie fact series!

Today’s Eerie Fact: Let’s Talk About Disney’s Club 33

Okay, full disclosure: everything I know about Club 33 comes from blog posts, influencers, and my own wistful strolls past that ever-elusive doorway in Disneyland. If you’re like me, the only things you really know are:

  • It’s insanely expensive

  • There’s a waitlist that might actually be longer than the line for Rise of the Resistance

So before we dive into the eerie side of things, let’s touch on a little history…

🕰️ History of Club 33

Like many Disney legends, Club 33 traces back to the 1964–1965 World’s Fair. Walt Disney had partnered with several sponsors and was invited to hang out in their VIP lounges. When he asked GE about bringing the Carousel of Progress back to Disneyland, rumor has it they said yes—with one condition: a private lounge for GE affiliates to unwind.

Since the ride’s location didn’t feel right for alcohol service, Walt turned to the newly developing New Orleans Square. And voilà—Club 33 was born in June 1967 at 33 Royal Street.

Why the name? Officially, it’s the address. But some say it honors Disneyland’s 33 original sponsors. Either way, it’s grown far beyond its Anaheim roots.

👻 The Eerie Side of Club 33

So what makes Club 33 eerie—besides the astronomical price tag?

Let’s start with the fact that photos are banned. That means any creeptastic stories? Yep, they’re mostly rumors. But one real-life drama stands out: In 2017, Scott and Diana Anderson were banned from Club 33 and reportedly spent over $400,000 in legal fees trying to fight it. The court upheld the ban due to Scott’s behavior. Yikes.

And then there’s the really (ok may be not that) eerie stuff…

Some believe Walt Disney was a member of the Freemasons—or even the Illuminati (which, depending on who you ask, might be one and the same). If you buy into that theory, Club 33 wasn’t just a VIP lounge—it was a symbolic space tied to secret societies. And its global presence? A clue that it’s more than just a club for the Disney elite.

Okay, maybe that’s more quirky than creepy. But still… one of Disney’s most exclusive spaces possibly doubling as a cover for ancient secret societies? That’s eerie enough for me.

🗝️ Final Thoughts

So what do you think?

Is Club 33 just a luxe hideaway for the Disney-obsessed? Or is it something deeper… darker… more mysterious?

And if you were granted a guest pass, would you take it? I know I would. No hesitation.
